James Ewing is an accomplished and highly experienced Director of Photography for HD/SD production. He has a wide scope of production credits ranging from broadcast television to museum exhibition showcase to high-end corporate production. James was one of the first independent DP’s to venture into the new wave of High Definition production back in 1998 shooting an exhibition project for the Portland Art Museum. Since then, James was both owner of the Sony HDW 700A and the current F900/3 24p/1080i cameras. Over the years he worked hard to increase his expertise in HD production, both through the projects he did as well as specific training workshops such as the Santa Fe HD workshop (which he took twice). Along with James' skill and expertise in HD, James is also well seasoned and very comfortable shooting every other video format, ranging from Panasonic’s HD Varicam camera to the SDX 900 SD format. James has sought to be as knowledgeable with these excellent cameras as he is with the Sony F900. Over the years James has also shot Betacam SP, Digi-Beta, along with various popular pro-sumer mini DV format cameras. His 18 years of experience working as a Director of Photography/cameraman in broadcast video and 12years as a Steadicam Cinematographer has made James highly sought after for his technical skill and creative eye. This is married to his personable nature and trustworthy service and reliability. He is dedicated to capturing the vision of every Director and Producer while seeking to add much more.
